Review by Marissa Govedarica

Houdini Live 2005 A Live History Of Gluttony And Lust by Melvins is a must-listen for fans of the band and lovers of grunge music. The album features live recordings of the band's 1993 album Houdini, performed in its entirety during their 2005 tour. The energy and intensity of the live performances are captured perfectly in the recordings, giving listeners a taste of what it was like to witness the Melvins in their prime.

The album opens with the explosive "Hooch," which sets the tone for the rest of the set. The band's signature heavy riffs and pounding drums are on full display throughout the album, with standout tracks including "Night Goat," "Lizzy," and "Honey Bucket." The addition of Trevor Dunn on bass adds an extra layer of depth and complexity to the already powerful sound.

One of the highlights of the album is the 20-minute version of "Spread Eagle Beagle," which showcases the band's ability to improvise and experiment while still maintaining their trademark sound. The live setting also allows for extended solos and jam sessions, making each song feel fresh and exciting.

I'm pretty sure that any possessed person or physical object/area could be exorcised and then immediately be re-possessed by the ghost of Joan of Arc with the proper application of volume.

So I think that their so called mumbo jumbo lyrics is bs. They're actually saying something and just fucking with people. Because honestly if the shit they're supposedly saying is just nonsense than that would ruin the Melvin's for me.

I've seen them twice and have never been lucky enough to see them play Honey Bucket or Joan of Arc. Fingers crossed for next time. I did see them play Revolve though. That was fucking great!
