Review by Edward F. Howard

Goran Bregović's album Collection 2000 is a mesmerizing blend of traditional Balkan music with contemporary sounds. The album features a range of instruments, including brass, strings, and percussion, that come together to create a rich and dynamic sound.

The album's standout tracks include "Kalasnjikov," which features a catchy brass melody and driving rhythm, and "Ederlezi," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases Bregović's skillful guitar playing. Other notable tracks include "Gas Gas," with its infectious beat and sing-along chorus, and "Bubamara," a lively instrumental piece that evokes images of traditional Balkan weddings and celebrations.

Throughout the album, Bregović's arrangements are both intricate and accessible, blending traditional melodies with modern production techniques to create a sound that is both timeless and contemporary. The album's diverse range of musical styles and influences makes it a compelling listen from start to finish.
